From arms to legs, even abs—the new Team Beats training class at Babcock Ranch is a one-hour full body workout. “Team Beats is a high-intensity interval training class based off of a timer. Everyone is set up and hooked up to a heart rate monitor during the class so that way we can address the goals, so basically hitting certain heart rate zones,” Said Marc Bifano, an exercise specialist with Lee Health.
Before the class, each participant undergoes a fitness assessment to determine their goals and their exercise limitations. “Some of the class may be in the 60-65 heart rate zone which is really more for fat burning, and then we may shift at another circuit of the class to 65-75 percent which is more endurance and then from there we could go to 75 to 85 percent which is more of a recovery,” he said.
While the high-intensity interval training works every muscle and burns calories quickly, exercise specialist Marc Bifano says the extreme form of exercise should be limited to three times a week. “It has to be done safely and effectively and making sure that we don’t push people too hard,” Bifano said.
Before and after a HIIT workout, it’s also important for participants to make sure they are stretching, eating healthy foods, and drinking plenty of water. “At Lee Health, we get the best exercise specialists to make sure they know what they’re doing to help people,” he said.
A class designed to build strength and endurance safely, and help people reach their health goals.
