The stair stepper is an incredible workout that helps build muscle, tone your legs while providing cardiovascular benefits. You burn more calories on the stair stepper than the treadmill. For ex, if you do 30 mins of running on the treadmill you burn close to 200 calories while you burn close to 300 calories during that same time frame on the stair stepper. Performing the stair stepper in multi-directions helps to isolate and focus on specific areas of the legs. Perform this cardio challenge to target your entire legs & core in 5 minutes. I like to rotate doing butt kicks the first round and straight leg kick backs during the second round. Have fun!
HOW TO DO THE STAIR STEPPER CORRECTLY
Engage your core the entire time for a total body workout. Try to keep your hands off the handrails while stepping to force your core to work while getting toned legs. I place my hands on the handrails sometimes during butt kicks, side steps or leg kicks but my goal is to keep them off as much as possible. You know your body, do what you need but NEVER lean on the handrails. Keep your body upright and weight in your legs putting the entire foot on the step as you walk “up”.
HOW TO DO SIDE STEP CORRECTLY
When you turn your body to the side make sure you keep your hips squared to the front. Engage your core and raise the right over left foot when you are on the right side. Perform the opposite on the left side (left over right).
